Gomez became interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry after watching her mother prepare for theatre plays. She began auditioning for other parts and met Demi Lovato at a Barney & Friends audition.
In 2007, Gomez was cast in a recurring role as pop star Mikayla on the Disney Channel popular series Hannah Montana.
